The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has announced a cash reward for anyone who provides information leading to the re-arrest of Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, the main suspect in the Kware murder case.
Jumaisi, who was awaiting trial for the murder of several women whose bodies were found at a dump site in Kware, Nairobi, escaped from police custody on August 20, 2024.
The escape occurred at Gigiri Police Station, where Jumaisi and 12 other detainees managed to break free by cutting through the wire mesh of their cell and breaching the perimeter wall. Among those who escaped with him were Eritrean nationals.
The breakout was discovered by police officers during their morning rounds while serving tea to the detainees.
Police Offer Reward for Info Leading to Collins Jumaisi Arrest
The DCI has urged the public to assist in recapturing Khalusha, who is originally from Shiru location, Shaviringa sub-location, Hamisi Sub-County in Vihiga County.
In their statement, the DCI said, “A substantial cash reward will be offered for credible information leading to his arrest.”
They added that the public can provide tips confidentially via the #FichuaKwaDCI hotline at 0800722203 or through the police emergency numbers 999, 911, and 112. Information can also be reported to any police station nationwide.
In connection with the escape, five out of eight police officers who were on duty at the time have been arrested and appeared in a Nairobi court on Wednesday. The police are seeking to detain them for an additional 14 days to complete their investigations. The DCI continues to emphasize the importance of public cooperation in bringing Khalusha back into custody.
