Coles shopper makes a shocking discovery in packet of coconut-flavoured Tim Tams: ‘Local attraction’

Outraged shoppers have taken to social media to attack a Sydney supermarket after a customer noticed a nasty detail on a Tim Tam package.

In a post on Reddit, a social media user shared an image of a Tim Tam package on the shelf at Coles in Burwood in Sydney’s west, which appeared to have been eaten by rats or mice.

The Arnott’s package had a large hole in the center, with bite marks visible in at least three of the coconut flavored Tim Tams.

“Welcome to the local attraction of Burwood Coles,” one disgruntled customer wrote in the post.

One commenter claimed that it was not uncommon to see pest-infested goods in the supermarket.

“Yes, not the first time, I’ve shopped there and seen this many times,” they said.

Other commentators questioned the supermarket’s management and product controls.

“Suspect this will sit on a shelf in Coles Burwood for a while before being noticed by management,” one person commented.

A Coles spokesperson said several claims relating to the Tim Tam package are currently being investigated.

“Coles takes food safety seriously and we work hard to maintain a clean environment in our stores and DCs,” a spokesperson told 7 NEWS.

‘We have an integrated pest control system, which focuses primarily on keeping pests out and controlling pests if they do get in.’

While some commenters were shocked to see the image, others tried to make light of the post.

“To be honest, those coconut Tim Tams are delicious,” one commenter wrote.

‘Rats! I was craving some coconut creams,” said another.

Coles has been contacted for further comment.
