Claudia Winkleman says her husband Kris Thykier is a 'better parent' than her as she juggles motherhood with busy TV career

Claudia Winkleman has revealed her husband Kris Thykier is a better parent to their three children than her.

The TV presenter, 52, shares Jake, 19, Matilda, 15, and Arthur, 10, with her film producer partner, 50, who she married in 2000.

Claudia currently juggles hosting duties on Strictly Come Dancing, mystery series The Traitors and music show The Piano.

Although she loves being at home with her family, the star admitted it’s a delicate balancing act along with her duties at work.

‘Luckily my husband is a better parent than me,’ she joked to the Daily Mirror.

While she has found success as the host of three of the biggest shows on TV, Claudia remains humble and insisted it’s all down to good luck.

She said: ‘The Traitors and Strictly and The Piano are so strong anybody could host them. We all know it. But I’m lucky enough that I’m there. That’s the truth.

‘It doesn’t mean I’m not unbelievably grateful, but it’s just as luck would have it I’ve fallen into them.’

It comes after Claudia revealed she has ignored her kids’ request to quit ’embarrassing’ Strictly Come Dancing role.

While picking up an Outstanding Achievement Award at the Edinburgh TV Festival, Claudia was interviewed by pal Kirsty Young.

Speaking about her son, she said: ‘He said to me, “Mum, you have got to stop doing Strictly, it’s so embarrassing and my teacher has mentioned it”‘.

‘I just went “See those trainers, Jake?” He was like “OK, sorry!”’

Claudia is preparing to co-host the 21st series of the hit BBC show with Tess Daly but remains suitably self-effacing about her role.

She laughs: ‘My only job is to make sure [the celebs] are OK and to stop speaking on time.

‘I know I’m not allowed to say I just paint myself orange and I read out loud but really that is what I do most of the time. So, that’s the gig but it’s really, really thrilling.’

Claudia has revealed she spends her time off from TV being ‘a very annoying human being’ to her three kids.

The TV personality hilariously confessed her children beg her to give them some space during the 10 months of the year when she’s not busy presenting Strictly Come Dancing.

Speaking exclusively to MailOnline at the No7 Pro Derm Scan launch party, she blamed the ‘awful’ habit on her former newspaper editor mum Eve Pollard, 76.

She began: ‘I get on the tube all the time but I’ve never been recognised in my life, never in my life. I’m on there four times a day with my kids…’

‘I’m on telly sometimes but only for two months in the year and the rest of the time, I zip around. For the rest of the year, I lick the children.

‘I follow them around and I’m a very annoying human being to them. They say, “Mum give us some space,” and I say “no”. I’m awful. It comes from my own mum.’

The hit BBC show will be back on screens on Saturday, September 23, with the celebrities taking to the floor with their professional partners.

The series, hosted by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, will run for 13 weeks and is set to conclude with the live final on December 16.

The BBC show released a sneak peek video to their Instagram page after Strictly’s 2023 celebrity line-up was confirmed.

And two stand-out stars were Zara McDermott, 27, and Bobby Brazier, who impressed with their dance prowess.

Zara performed a ‘noodle’ dance which saw her flailing her arms in the air and shimmying her body from side to side.

The former Love Island star, a fitness fanatic who looked incredible in a red sequin dress, also made the unlikely claim that she looked like an ‘inflatable’ whenever she danced.

She joked: ‘When I dance, I look like one of those inflatable mascots outside a car dealership.’

And EastEnders star Bobby perfected the ‘worm’ during the new video, which is sure to make him popular with the younger audience.

He looked dapper in a white double breasted blazer with a pair of smart black trousers.

Strictly’s official social media page teased: ‘Look who’s warming up for a brand new series of #Strictly.

‘We’re back in the Ballroom this Autumn!’
