The feature film – based on Taichi Yamada’s 1987 Japanese psychological novel Strangers – is directed by Andrew Haigh and will be released in the UK on January 26.

The film stars Andrew as a screenwriter who is drawn back to his parental home and begins a budding relationship with a mysterious neighbor (Paul).

Claire plays Adam’s mother, while Billy Elliot star Jamie Bell plays his father, as his late parents appear to him in his childhood home at the age they died.

The LGBTQ+ romantic fantasy dominated the competition at the British Independent Film Awards last month, earning a total of seven gongs.

Among the prizes was the top prize for Best Film, beating Femme, How To Have Sex, Rye Lane and Scrapper.

All Of Us Strangers also scored Best Director and Best Screenplay for English filmmaker Andrew Haigh, known for his work on the films Weekend and 45 Years.

Paul shared the award for Best Supporting Performance for his role in the film with How To Have Sex’s Shaun Thomas.

Claire was also nominated in the Best Supporting Performance category, but lost to her co-star Paul.
