AC Milan winger Christian Pulisic received death threats and further abuse on social media after his team’s heated 1-0 win over Lazio.

Luca Pellegrini was sent off in the 67th minute after receiving two yellow cards in quick succession. Both cards were the result of fouls against Pulisic.

Later, Matteo Guendouzi was shown a straight red card in injury time for reacting poorly to a foul by the United States star, who also received a yellow card for the incident.

Guendouzi had his jersey pulled by Pulisic and took revenge, resulting in both men receiving cards, although the American was booked rather than outright red.

Pulisic joined Milan from Chelsea in the off-season in the hope of reviving a flagging club career.
