Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is hopeful that Jude Bellingham can shake off a shoulder injury during the match against Valencia on Saturday evening.

Bellingham suffered the injury during Real Madrid’s 0-0 draw against Rayo Vallecano last weekend.

The England star went down in the first half while holding his shoulder, but was able to play the full 90 minutes.

Bellingham came under heavy attack after the match and was left out of Real Madrid’s starting XI for the 3-0 win over Braga in the Champions League in midweek.

Ancelotti has played down concerns over Bellingham’s fitness, with the Real Madrid boss confirming the midfielder has been training and is expected to feature against Valencia.

“We’ll see what happens,” Ancelotti said at a pre-match press conference Football Spain.

‘The player feels good, he has trained normally and is available.

“If nothing strange happens in the next few hours, I think he will play.”

Bellingham has made a stunning start to life at Real, scoring 13 goals in his first 14 appearances since his £113million move to Borussia Dortmund.

His ten league goals put him at the top of the La Liga goals list.

Bellingham was named winner of this year’s Kopa Trophy at last month’s Ballon d’Or ceremony, while on Friday he was named Real’s player of the month for the third time in a row.

‘I would like to thank everyone again for this award. I am very grateful for the support from the fans and I hope to win many more,” said Bellingham.

‘We were frustrated with the draw against Rayo after such a big win over Barcelona, but we have to learn from these kinds of games.

‘We then performed very well in the Champions League and now we have an important match against Valencia. We’re going to enjoy it and try to win.’

Real Madrid starts the match against Valencia in second place, two points behind surprising leader Girona.

England manager Gareth Southgate will be reassured after Ancelotti’s update on Bellingham’s fitness.

The Three Lions boss will have to decide whether to risk Bellingham for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia.
