Ahead of the release of their futuristic music video on Thursday, the two stars spoke to Billboard about their collaboration, which Cardi B said was a “dream.”
Shakira revealed that she was already planning to contact the rapper to ask her to participate in a song.
“We were always discussing internally whether it was a good idea to put someone on this number,” she remembers. ‘I always pictured Cardi in this song. I reached out, and here we are.”
Cardi B also admitted that she had been hoping for a collaboration with Shakira for a long time.
“I knew this day would come,” she said. ‘It came. I don’t care if she wants me to meow, I will. I can not wait. Seriously, that’s my dream.’
