Burnley defender Connor Roberts is catching the eye of Brentford, Leeds, and Feyenoord – with the Welshman targeting regular football ahead of Wales’ Euro 2024 play-off in March

Burnley defender Connor Roberts is attracting the attention of Brentford, Feyenoord and Leeds United in the final week of the transfer period.

All three clubs are in the market for an attacking right-back and have added the Wales international to their shortlist of options as they look to step up recruitment efforts.

Roberts still has eighteen months left on his contract and has played fifteen games for Burnley this season, but has mainly been used from the bench in recent weeks.

That has prompted interested clubs to ask whether he can be taken out of Burnley’s battle for survival this month.

Burnley are working on a £10.5million deal for 21-year-old Montpellier centre-back Maxime Esteve and his arrival could allow them to shuffle defenders to offset Roberts’ departure.

Roberts, 28, will be looking to play more regularly from the start as he stakes his claim for a place in the Wales squad as they prepare to face Finland in the European Championship qualifying play-off in March.

Brentford have previously shown interest and recognize that Roberts can also fill in as a left-back, just like Leeds United.

Ironically, Feyenoord were rejected by Nottingham Forest last week in a bid to sign another Wales right-back Neco Williams, but they are now assessing whether they can convince Burnley to let Roberts go.
