A wild bull fatally crashed into a cement pillar while chasing a resident near Khao Yai National Park in Pak Chong, Nakhon Ratchasima. The incident occurred at 9.40am yesterday, June 23, when park officials received the alarming report.
Surasawadee Rueangjab, the headwoman of Pong Ta Long Subdistrict, stated that a resident was gathering vegetables near the park’s boundary when a wild bull began to chase them. In its pursuit, the bull collided with a tree and then a cement pillar, resulting in its death.
Upon investigation, Khao Yai National Park officials found a severely damaged cement pillar and tree at the scene. The bull, identified as a female and estimated to be between 15 and 20 years old, had its left leg ensnared by a barbed wire fence and suffered a broken neck. There was no indication of human-inflicted harm.
The park officials proceeded to bury the bull near the site after completing their examination. It was noted that wild animals such as elephants, bulls, black bears, boars, and deer are frequently seen at night in the area searching for food. Residents have been advised to be cautious due to multiple incidents involving attacks by these animals, said Surasawadee.
“This tragic event highlights the need for increased awareness and precaution among residents living near the park’s boundaries.”
The community is being urged to stay vigilant, especially during nighttime hours when wild animals are most active.
In related news, a mother and her seven year old daughter were injured by a Khao Phaeng Ma wild bull which charged at them while the pair was riding a motorcycle in Nakhon Ratchasima.
The bull ran in from the side of the road, crashing into the motorcycle. The mother fell to the ground whilst her daughter’s clothes got caught by the wild bull’s horns, before falling to the ground, 100 metres from where the motorcycle had fallen. Both suffered serious injuries.
