Roman Kemp made a joke during the BRIT Awards on Saturday evening about the Christian Horner scandal that is currently dominating the headlines.
The Capital Radio presenter was part of the presenting team alongside Maya Jama and Clara Amfo for the star-studded ceremony at London’s O2, which was broadcast on ITV.
Roman made a cheeky joke about Red Bull boss Christian during the live show, which took place just hours after Horner put on a united front at the Bahrain Grand Prix with his wife Geri Halliwell.
As he walked around guests during the ceremony, Roman joked: “It’s busier here than the Red Bull press office.”

It comes amid allegations relating to the leak of hundreds of WhatsApp messages that appeared to be written by Horner to a female colleague.
The reports came on Thursday, just 24 hours after Horner was cleared to continue as head of Red Bull following an internal investigation into “inappropriate conduct” by the F1 team’s parent company, Red Bull GmbH.
Horner, who has always denied the claims, previously said: “I have the support of a great family, a great wife, a great team and everyone within that team.
‘And my focus is on racing, winning races and doing the best I can. It was a day when the season started in the best possible way. My focus is on this team, my family, my wife and racing.”
Viewers were less than impressed by another Roman joke on Saturday evening.
The presenter called Green Day ‘the America Busted’ and sparked the anger of fans of the hugely successful American band.
Tré Cool and Billie Joe Armstrong of the American pop punk band attended the awards ceremony to present the Best British Group award, with Roman introducing them.
“They are two true rock gods presenting our next British group award,” he said.

Viewers were unimpressed by the joke, with one tweeting: ‘I think Green Day being called ‘the American Busted’ might be the most insulting thing I’ve ever heard. Ever. #BritAwards.’
Another asked: ‘Did he just call Green Day the American Busted #BritAwards.’
Elsewhere during the chaotic ceremony, Roman convinced Global Icon Award winner Kylie Minogue to do a ‘shoey’ – an Australian tradition that involves drinking from a shoe.
Kylie seemed baffled by the skit, with one viewer tweeting: ‘That interview with Kylie and Roman Kemp was so awkward. Thanks to this year’s #BRITs, Mick Fleetwood/Sam Fox’s performance is worthy of the BAFTA Lifetime Achievement Award.”

Raye broke records at the BRIT Awards on Saturday night, winning six gongs at a star-studded ceremony at London’s O2 Arena.
The 26-year-old singer/songwriter won the first gong presented that evening, Song of the Year, for her hit Escapism ft 070 Shake, shortly before also taking home the R&B Act gong and best new artist.
She was in tears as she later accepted Album of the Year, Artist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year, at one point bringing her beloved grandmother onto the stage.
The star now holds the record for the most Brits won in a single ceremony, a record that previously stood at four, jointly held by Blur (1995), Adele (2016) and Harry Styles (2023).
She was nominated seven times – the most ever for one artist in a year – but could not possibly have won more than her, as she was shortlisted for song of the year twice – for Escapism, which won the title, and for Prada.
In addition to Raye’s huge successes, Dua Lipa also won the award for best pop act, while Kylie Minogue – who had a huge comeback hit last year with Padam Padam – scooped the global icon award. The evening was dominated by female winners, who won gongs in all but four categories.
