A body has been discovered in a wooded area of Kirkcaldy, a Scottish town, amid the search for a missing teenager. Officers had been looking for 19-year-old Jamie Lyons, who disappeared from Kirkcaldy, Fife, on Sunday. His family alerted the public over the weekend and asked for help in searching the woodlands off Oriel Road on Monday.
The family used social media to share a photo showing police standing near a cordon by the wooded area. Local police confirmed this afternoon that they had informed Jamie’s family about the discovery of a body in the area.
Police Scotland reported that officers found the body in the woods off Oriel Road after being called to the scene at around 4.20pm on Monday. The road was closed in both directions around 5pm and reopened around 6.30pm. A local resident mentioned that people began gathering in the area at around 6pm.

Formal identification has yet to take place. The family of Jamie Lyons, 19, reported missing from the town on Sunday, are aware.

The resident stated that around 40 friends and family members gathered at the woodland spot while police blocked the road for over an hour. Formal identification of the remains has not yet been carried out, but police have notified Jamie’s family of the find. A Police Scotland spokesman said there are no suspicious circumstances, and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
Jamie was last seen around 1.30pm on Sunday in the Greenloanings area of Kirkcaldy, and his disappearance was described as out of character. He was one of two people reported missing in Fife on Sunday, alongside Craig Brown.

Craig, aged 40, went missing around 11am. Police issued an appeal for information, believing he might have travelled to the Edinburgh area. A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed he was found “safe and well” on Monday.
