Bluey star stuns in high fashion photo shoot and tackles claims the children’s show aired ‘fatphobic’ episode

Melanie Zanetti is more famous for her voice than her face.

And the actress, who voices Bluey’s mum Chili Hiller in the hugely popular children’s cartoon Bluey, is now ready to be seen.

She stars in a high fashion shoot for this week’s issue Stellar MagazineThe 38-year-old says she is ‘so proud to be part of such a beautiful production’.

Backed by recent controversy surrounding what critics called a ‘fat-phobic’ episode of the show, Melanie was happy to defend the programme’s intentions.

“Obviously it wasn’t meant to be,” she told the publication this weekend.

‘(They) removed that part that was not necessary and (they) are not defensive or reactionary. And that’s a testament to the producers and the team.

“One of my favorite parts of the show is that we have examples of parents admitting their mistakes and apologizing. ‘

She added: “There are people who don’t agree with removing (the scene), but we’re trying to cater to as many people as possible and be as inclusive as possible.”

In May, ABC agreed to recut a controversial episode of the children’s show after pressure from viewers.

The beloved animated series about a family of dogs has landed in hot water with fans over a ‘fat shaming’ scene.

The offending moment, just a few seconds old, was edited by the show’s producers, Ludo Studios, with support from the national broadcaster’s report TV Blackbox.

The controversy centered around the episode Exercise, in which Bluey’s dad, Bandit, decided he needed to get fit, after complaining about his expanding belly.

Some parents remained disillusioned with what they saw as ‘toxic’ messages.

Meanwhile, an ABC spokesman said: “The new version gives families the chance to have important conversations in their own way.”

“As the home of Bluey, ABC supports the decision to re-edit the program and we have updated the episode on our platforms.”
