Blackburn announce John Eustace as the club’s new manager… after Jon Dahl Tomasson departed by mutual consent following an eight-game winless run at Ewood Park

Blackburn have announced John Eustace as their new manager after Jon Dahl Tomasson left the club by mutual consent.

It was confirmed in a statement on Friday that both Tomasson and his assistant Remy Reijnierse have left the club with immediate effect.

Later that day, the club announced that John Eustace had been appointed to replace the Dane, with the 44-year-old signing a two-and-a-half-year contract at Ewood Park.

‘I am delighted to be the new Head Coach of such a fantastic football club as Blackburn Rovers, which has such a proud history and tradition within football.’ Eustace told the club website.

‘I am excited about this new challenge in my career and can’t wait to get started.

“I’m looking forward to being at Ewood Park tomorrow and meeting the supporters who can play a big role for us between now and the end of the season.

“I will give everything to ensure that the fans have a team they can be proud of and I hope that together we can move up the ranks soon.”

Mail Sport previously reported that Eustace had agreed a deal to take over the Lancashire club, marking his return to the dugout after being sacked by Birmingham in October.
