Bill Maher ‘fires his long-time talent agency after he was snubbed from its Oscars after-party’ that saw Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts, Margot Robbie and Kamala Harris rub shoulders at CEO’s LA mansion, report claims

Bill Maher has fired his longtime representatives Creative Artists Agency (CAA), who have represented him for more than two decades, after he was removed from the guest list for a pre-Oscars party hosted by CAA’s CEO last weekend.

The censure and subsequent dismissal from the agency was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter and comes after Maher felt slighted after not receiving an invite to Bryan Lourd’s exclusive Oscars party, held at his LA mansion.

The party was a who’s who of Hollywood A-listers and fellow CAA clients, including Julia Roberts and Jennifer Aniston. which only further incense Maher, after being out in the cold.

CAA has not officially commented on the divorce, but another representative of Maher at the Wasserman (Brillstein Entertainment Partners) Agency told DailyMail.com that there was no truth in the news that he was leaving CAA.

‘It’s not true at all. He is still with CAA and has not made a decision regarding his representation at this time,” they said on Saturday evening.

The event Maher missed took place at Lourd’s home and also coincided with the Motion Picture & Television Fund’s Night Before bash,

JJ Abrams, Barry Diller, Kamala Harris, Margot Robbie, Bob Iger, Alan Bergman, Dana Walden, Brian Robbins, Jason Blum, Brian Grazer, Donna Langley and Pam Abdy were all in attendance.

Maher’s apparent criticism of Lourd’s bash came after he also failed to show up at a more ‘official’ CAA-hosted event at the Sunset Tower Hotel the night before.

Maher was nowhere to be seen, which only fueled rumors that all was not well between the HBO talk show host and CAA.

Instead, he appeared at rival agency William Morris Endeavor WME’s Oscar party at the Hearst Estate in Beverly Hills.

The agency represents Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Cillian Murphy, Jeffrey Wright, Annette Bening, Carey Mulligan, Emily Blunt, Danielle Brooks, Jodie Foster, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, America Ferrera, Justin Triet and Yorgos Lanthimos, among others.

Maher was represented at CAA by Steven Lafferty, who also serves as the agency’s head of television.

The agency recently received a two-year extension for Maher’s HBO show “Real Time,” which would begin its 24th season in 2026.

His show has been on the air since 2003 and is one of the network’s longest-running original series.
