Bethenny Frankel revealed that Andy Cohen encouraged her to marry ex Jason Hoppy, who she met while filming season three of Real Housewives of New York City.
While reflecting on her disastrous relationship with the pharmaceutical sales executive, 52, on the latest episode of her Just B podcast, the Skinnygirl founder, also 52, made a rare public remark about her past relationship.
‘Andy told me to marry Jason, so, there we go,’ she claimed while speaking to Jill Zarin. ‘F**king worst idea in history.’
Within 11 months of meeting at the nightclub Tenjune 11, the pair were engaged and expecting a baby girl.
Their whirlwind romance was documented for Bravo cameras with a televised wedding in 2010, followed by their daughter Bryn’s birth in May of the same year.

But all was not as it seemed and the couple called it quits on their relationship in December 2012 and she filed for divorce one month later.
PEOPLE reported in January 2017 that ‘Hoppy was charged with one count of harassment in the second degree, one count of aggravated harassment in the second degree, and one count of stalking in the fourth degree.’
Two months later, Hoppy rejected a plea offer and was arraigned on additional charges in June 2017 which included ‘one count of stalking in the third degree and another count of stalking in the fourth degree.’
Details of their divorce and custody agreement, which was finalized in January 2021, were not made public.
On her Just B podcast, back in 2021, the TV personality detailed her ‘nightmare divorce.’
‘I have spent millions of dollars, millions of tears. I have had a horrific, hall of fame, nightmare divorce,’ Frankel stated in the episode.
Their divorce was finalized nearly eight years after they initially split, with the star noting that she spent 20 percent of her life divorcing him, but they were only married for two years.
‘I ended up marrying someone who was just a regular person, who seemed like they could handle all of what’s going on with me, and being in reality television,’ Frankel explained.
She added: ‘And I was sort of proud of myself for just marrying someone who had a simple life, and they didn’t come from much, and so they would never want anything from me.’

‘Because this is just not the way that it goes, people who don’t come from a lot just are happy with that sort of small-town life, and that would never really be a whole issue.’
Talking about her issues with a prenuptial agreement, Frankel reasoned: ‘I’m trusting and I just don’t want to deal with this, and it was embarrassing.’
‘The word “prenup” was embarrassing to me. It’s uncomfortable, it’s awkward. A contract when you get married? It’s an uncomfortable, awkward concept.’
After tying the knot in 2010, the pair would separate just two years later in 2012.

Bethenny has since moved on and became engaged to Paul Bernon, 44, in 2021.
‘It was intimate,’ she told PEOPLE of the proposal before adding that he dropped down to one knee in Florida in February 2021.
‘Just the two of us, on an island off of Florida. No makeup, no manicure, no ring photos. It was very simple and beautiful.’
She added, ‘He’s a good person who I love. … I don’t know if it’s a yin to my yang, but he’s really relaxed, he’s mellow and he’s very, very funny.’
