Below Deck Down Under fans will be shocked to discover how old ‘hot captain’ Jason Chambers really is.

The reality star’s representatives have confirmed that despite several sources on the internet stating he’s 39 years old, he is in fact more than a decade older.

The hunky captain from the show is in fact 50 years of age.

It comes after Jason revealed to Daily Mail Australia he is still very much single and available for an ‘adventurous’ woman to tie him down.

The father-of-one said he has ‘dedicated a lot of time’ to his daughter Saskia, eight, and is searching for someone who is ‘independent and secure’.

He said while he’s not actively looking for a partner right now, he has a very particular type of woman he’s attracted to.

‘For me to have a relationship, someone has to be very independent and secure in their own situation. So that’s difficult to find,’ he told Daily Mail Australia in an exclusive interview.

‘Someone has got to be acceptable for what I’ve got going on which is my daughter and my work moving around. So they have to have their own thing going on.’

He went on to say his ideal partner is someone who can help him be ‘better’ and maintain an active, healthy lifestyle.

‘Like someone who makes me get out of bed and do some exercise. Which I love doing, but sometimes I can be a lazy a**,’ he said.

‘So, freediving, adventurous and healthy, and make me better at that because I want to be better at that as well.’

Viewers can expect complicated ‘love pentagons’, unruly guests, the return of beloved characters and controversial new crew members.

And there is plenty of bubbling tensions and issues to rock the boat with Captain Jason set to fire a crew member later in the season.

It won’t be the first time he’s kicked someone off the boat after the reality television star gave crew members Magda Ziomek and Ryan McKeown the boot last season.

However, he promised there would be huge changes in the way he handles misbehaving crew this time around.

‘I won’t say too much. But it’s all dramatic and it’s worth it and I think I did the right thing for the boat itself to have the best team at the end,’ he said.
