The pairing of Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling for the movie Barbie turned out to be a huge success.

And the two superstars will reunite for the Ocean’s 11 prequel, which will be produced by Robbie’s production company LuckyChap Entertainment.

Director Jay Roach has signed on to helm the film, which will be set in Europe during the 60s.

Producer Josie McNamara spoke GamesRadar+ about the project and shared, “I think we’re just trying to do right by the franchise. I’m excited for people to experience it when it’s ready.’

It was first published by The Hollywood Reporter in August 2022 that Gosling was in talks to join the production of Ocean’s 11.

At the time, the publication announced that Robbie would serve as a producer, along with husband Tom Ackerley and Michelle Graham.

The screenplay is written by Kerry Solomon, but other details have not been revealed.

The Oceanic franchise took off after its debut in 2001, starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts and Matt Damon.

Warner Bros. has built a successful archive with the success of Ocean’s 11, Ocean’s 12 and Ocean’s 13.

Ocean’s 8 was released in 2018 and featured a female-focused spin-off starring Sandra Bullock, Rihanna and Anne Hathaway.

The inspiration for the Ocean’s films came from the 1960 film of the same name, which followed Rat Rat megastars Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin.

It comes after Barbie became the studio’s highest-grossing film of all time in US theaters.

The summer blockbuster has helped the studio earn $537.5 million at the domestic box office since August.

And Greta Gerwig became the highest-grossing debut female director of all time, surpassing the $153 million earned by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck for 2019’s blockbuster Captain Marvel.

The fantasy comedy follows Barbie and Ken as they embark on a journey of self-discovery after an existential crisis.

The film, based on the Mattel character, which Gerwig co-wrote with husband Noah Baumbach, has been praised for its sharp examination of femininity.
