BAFTAs 2024: Emma Stone suffers an awkward blunder as she prepares to accept her Best Actress award at star-studded ceremony

Emma Stone had an awkward moment as she accepted her Best Actress award at the 77th EE British Academy Film Awards on Sunday.

The Hollywood star, 35, took home the top prize for her role as Bella Baxter in sci-fi comedy Poor Things, but bumped into the cameraman as she jumped out of her seat as her name was announced.

The Cruella star could be seen gesturing to the camera before walking to the stage to collect her award.

After finally receiving her award, Emma thanked her mother Krista for believing in her dreams.

She said, “She kind of made me believe this crazy idea that I could do something like this.”

The La La Land actress said she was “impressed” by the entire team behind the surreal comedy, in which she plays a woman who is resuscitated and implanted with a baby’s brain.

Emma looked visibly pleased with herself as she entered the winners room during the ceremony.

Emma battled off competition from Maestro actress Carey Mulligan, Rye Lane’s Vivian Oparah, Barbie star Margot Robbie, Anatomy of a Fall actress Sandra Huller and former American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino – who was nominated for her role in The Color Purple – for the gong.

Meanwhile, Cillian Murphy won the Leading Actor Award at the BAFTAs.

The 47-year-old actor – who plays the title role in Christopher Nolan’s atomic bomb saga – accepted the award at the ceremony at London’s Royal Festival Hall.

He triumphed in a category that included Bradley Cooper for ‘Maestro’, Colman Domingo for ‘Rustin’, Paul Giamatti for ‘The Holdovers’, Barry Keoghan for ‘Saltburn’ and Teo Yoo for ‘Past Lives’.
