A series of historic tweets have emerged from Manchester United’s incoming CEO Omar Berrada, mocking the Red Devils.
Mail Sport previously reported that United are close to appointing Berrada – from rival Manchester City – as their new CEO, a move seen as a major coup.
It is understood his arrival was driven by Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS team, who are taking control of the football operations after agreeing a 25 per cent stake in the club.
Ahead of his expected move, three historic tweets in which he mocked United have come to light on social media.
One suggested that Bayern Munich should have beaten the Red Devils in the Champions League final that completed their Treble in 1999.

On February 5, 2012, he tweeted: “Goal! Chelsea 2-0 Manchester United. Oh yeah! Viva la Spanish connection!’
That came after Fernando Torres set up Juan Mata to give Chelsea a 2-0 lead in a match that ultimately ended 3-3.
A year later, he tweeted about United’s historic victory over Bayern Munich in the 1999 Champions League final, completing the iconic Treble.
He tweeted: ‘Watching Man Utd vs Bayern 1999 UCL final on ESPN Classic. I forgot how much Bayern actually deserved to win that match.’
Then in 2014, Berrada shared an article from The Guardian about the Red Devils with the caption: ‘Manchester United: how did they get into this mess?’
The tweet was in April 2014, towards the end of United’s first season in the post-Ferguson era.
After winning the league a year earlier, the Red Devils only finished seventh in the 2013/2014 season, in a year in which they were managed by David Moyes.
Almost ten years later, Berrada seems to be joining at a time when the Red Devils are still seventh in the standings this season.
Berrada also celebrated Fernando Torres’ partnership with Juan Mata to put Chelsea 2–0 ahead against Manchester United in February 2012 – in a match that ultimately ended 3–3.

Another tweet from 2013 suggested United icon George Best was ‘not reaching his full potential’.
He wrote: ‘I saw a documentary about George Best. Great player who isn’t reaching his full potential. And it’s remarkable how much his style resembled that of #Messi.’
The takeover, which will see 46-year-old Berrada take on a bigger role with more responsibilities across Manchester, is said to have been signed by United’s owners, the Glazer family.
Insiders have revealed that the situation developed quickly, with Berrada identified as the preferred successor to Richard Arnold, who left before the INEOS deal was agreed.

It represents the first major decision made by the people of Ratcliffe and those close to the situation are impressed by the speed at which they have developed.
He comes with City’s blessing and it is understood the parting was amicable. It is thought that Berrada, who has also worked for Barcelona, was concerned about the move but saw it as an opportunity he could not turn down.
He will still be thought highly of at City, who see the move as further vindication of their success and methods.
Berrada is the latest to leave the Etihad Stadium for a more important role at another club.
