After a tantalizing draw, the Gunners play six-time winners Bayern – with the first leg at the Emirates Stadium on April 9 – while reigning champions City meet Real in the knockout stages for the third season in a row.

Wins for both would create an all-English semi-final. When asked if Arsenal can go all the way, sporting director Edu said: ‘Why not? We have to dream because of the way we play and the momentum we have.

“This is the position we always have to be in because of the size of the club. We’re back where we belong.’

Arsenal were humiliated 10-2 on aggregate in their last draw against Bayern in 2017.
