The Invincibles side have been invited to Arsenal’s final match of the season against Everton at the Emirates to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their legendary title win.

The team, which remained unbeaten in the Premier League throughout the 2003/2004 season, is the last Arsenal team to win the title.

They could witness that record being broken if the Gunners manage to pip Manchester City into top spot on May 19.

In celebration, the club will also host a gala lunch for them.

Mikel Arteta hopes with all his heart that Man City will drop points as Arsenal enter the final three league matches of the season in the battle for the title.

When asked about Man City’s 19-game unbeaten run in the league, Arteta said: “We expect (that), if you look at what they have done in the last seven, eight years and the number of points you have to have (to compete with them).

‘Those series and that kind of impulse to reach that number of points. So it’s no surprise.’

Arteta knows how formidable Guardiola’s machine is, having been his assistant at the club between 2016 and 2019. But he still hasn’t given up hope.

He said: ‘In my heart and in my soul… this (City dropping points) is what I hope for, yes.’

The Spaniard then described the rollercoaster of a title fight with Man City.

“You know what’s going on (with my emotions),” he said.

“You just want to win, and to win you need others to drop points and you hope that happens.

‘And then (after City’s win) you have to control your emotions because it doesn’t matter what happens that day.

‘There are still many games and points to play for.’

Arteta confirmed that Jurrien Timber is ready for the first-team squad after a nine-month absence as Arsenal have a fully fit squad for the first time this season.

Timber has been out of action since suffering a cruciate ligament injury on the opening day of the season against Nottingham Forest.
