Anita Oleksiak: pioneering woman at the helm of Polish aviation

Delve into the life and career of Anita Oleksiak, the CEO of the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PAŻP), a notable figure in Polish politics and management. As the first woman to assume this role, Oleksiak has a notable background in engineering, construction, and infrastructure. This piece will offer insights into her professional journey, personal life, and financial standing.

Anita Oleksiak’s career path is impressive, having graduated from the Military University of Technology in Warsaw and subsequently completing postgraduate studies in management. With over two decades of experience under her belt, Oleksiak has made her mark in managing large infrastructure projects, particularly in the field of bridge construction.

Oleksiak held a key position in Gdańsk as the director of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) branch. In this role, Oleksiak had oversight on several strategic investments, including the S7 expressway and the Vistula Spit crossing. Additionally, she acted as the chief construction inspector at the Chief Inspectorate of Building Control (GUNB) and held the directorship of the Department of Architecture, Construction, and Geodesy at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Construction.

On March 31, 2022, Oleksiak’s career took a significant turn when Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, following the recommendation of Minister of Infrastructure Andrzej Adamczyk, appointed her as the president of PAŻP. This move followed the resignation of Janusz Janiszewski, who stepped down after four years in the role. Oleksiak now shoulders the responsibility of guiding the aviation industry’s recovery in the wake of a global health crisis, ensuring the safety and efficacy of Polish air traffic, and maintaining PAŻP’s standing at the continental level.

While specific details regarding Oleksiak’s age remain unknown, it is estimated she is in her late 40s or early 50s. She was born and raised in Gdańsk, a city known for its architectural beauty and maritime history, located on Poland’s Baltic coast.
