Andy Reid ‘will become the NFL’s highest-paid coach’ with the Kansas City Chiefs set to open talks over a new contract after their Super Bowl win… with 65-year-old set for a $6.5m-a-year pay rise

The Kansas City Chiefs and Andy Reid will reportedly begin talks on a new contract that will make him the highest-paid coach in the NFL.

Reid led the Chiefs to back-to-back Super Bowl wins earlier this month — and a third in five seasons — when they defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in an overtime thriller.

Speculation that Reid, 65, would retire after the Super Bowl surrounded much of the build-up, but he confirmed the day after the game that he would be back next season.

That’s according to NFL insider Tom Pelisserothe Chiefs and Reid will open talks on a new contract in the coming weeks.

Reid is currently earning $11.5 million dollars as part of the contract he signed after his win his first Super Bowl win four years ago.

If he wants to become the highest-paid coach in the NFL, Reid is on track for a huge raise.

Sean Payton of the Denver Broncos is currently the highest-paid coach in the NFL at $18 million – a whopping $6.5 million more than Reid.

Chiefs General Manager Brett Beach is also reportedly in line for a new contract as a reward for building Reid’s roster.

The 46-year-old is reportedly one of the NFL’s lowest-paid General Managers, but that will certainly change if he signs a new contract as well.

It is expected that Reid and Veach’s new deals could all be completed by the time the annual League Meeting takes place next month.

Divisive TV analyst Skip Bayless claimed last week that Reid sold his soul to win the Super Bowl by allowing Travis Kelce‘s sideline.

Chief tight end Kelce sparked a backlash when he shockingly charged at his head coach on the sideline, shoved Reid and yelled in his face during the second quarter of the Super Bowl.

Kelce appeared to receive no punishment from the franchise for his surprising actions, with both he and Reid brushing off his post-game outburst.

Additionally, the NFL star was taped for the Super Bowl, which meant his astonishing moment of madness was recorded, but his blushes were spared when Inside the NFL failed to show the clip.

It was suspected that chiefs had blocked the broadcast of the audio in the direction it would have come from Reid himself, according to a police report. New York Post claimed.

FS1 analyst Bayless claimed he wasn’t surprised the franchise may have moved to prevent Kelce’s outburst from reaching the public.

“A good story in the NY Post by Ryan Glasspiegel indicates that the Chiefs have managed to prevent NFL Films audio of Travis Kelce attacking Andy Reid from airing anywhere,” he tweeted earlier this week.

‘No surprise. Kelce was both verbally and physically abused. No punishment. Andy sold his coaching soul for that SBowl.”
