All Creatures Great And Small filled viewers with festive cheer as James Harriott arrived home to his wife Helen in time for Christmas.
James (Nicholas Ralph) had been away at an RAF base while serving in the Second World War, but an emotional phone call to Helen (Rachel Shenton) convinced him to come home.
However, events on base threatened to keep the couple apart and he eventually abandoned his work responsibilities in favor of his wife.
Sadly, he ended up missing the birth of their baby, but Helen was overjoyed to see him return.

The North Yorkshire town of Grassington is used as a filming location, replacing the fictional market town of Darrowby in the show.
Rachel and her family’s farm is located in the small village of Airton, half an hour’s drive from Grassington.
Last year, All Creatures Great And Small was renewed for a third and fourth series.
Speaking about the double series order, Channel 5’s Sebastian Cardwell said: ‘It’s clear that our viewers love James Herriot’s adventures in Darrowby, and so do we at Channel 5.
“I look forward to us all being reunited with the Skeldale House family when series three hits our screens this year.”
