ADANI-JKIA DEAL WHISTLEBLOWER EXPOSES MORE SECRETS AMID LIFE THREATS

Nelson Amenya, the whistleblower behind the Adani Group’s controversial bid for Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), has revealed troubling new details about the deal.

According to Amenya, Adani wants to transfer JKIA’s title deed into its name for the entire 30-year term.

Amenya’s revelations have put him at risk. “I have been warned by international journalists that Adani would use various means to silence me,” he told KTN News.

“I’ve received threats and attacks, mostly from Indian bloggers.”

The deal, which involves a Ksh260 billion investment by Adani to expand JKIA, has raised concerns.

“JKIA is a crucial national asset,” Amenya said. “The secrecy surrounding this deal is troubling.”

He disclosed that the contract includes clauses requiring the Kenyan government to compensate Adani for any disruptions, like protests or parliamentary actions.

“The deal includes compensation for lost returns and investment costs,” Amenya explained.

Amenya is also facing a problematic investigation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for alleged cryptocurrency fraud, which he denies.

“This is an attempt to intimidate me,” Amenya stated. “My company has never been involved in cryptocurrency.”

He further revealed that Adani wants full control over JKIA for 30 years and plans to own 18% of the airport indefinitely.

“They want to control airport fees and block the development of other airports in Kenya,” Amenya said.

Additionally, Amenya expressed concern about Adani using JKIA’s title deed as collateral for loans. “This could jeopardize Kenya’s largest airport,” he warned.

“Adani is asking for tax exemptions and control over staffing.”

Isaac Mwaura, the government spokesperson, confirmed that Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) received a proposal from Adani Airport Holdings in March 2024.
