Activists vow to send delegation with list of those killed during demos to Ruto

Activist groups Voices Of Community Activists and Leaders of Africa (VOCAL Africa) and Mukuru Community Justice Centre have announced their plan to send a delegation to President William Ruto with a list of individuals who have been killed or gone missing.

During a press conference on Friday, the groups called for justice for victims of the Kware k******s and those affected by the recent GenZ protests.

Activists’ list

They confirmed that a formal list of the deceased and disappeared individuals will be delivered to the president’s office on Tuesday, September 4, 2024.

Human rights activist and CEO of VOCAL Africa, Hussein Khalid, said: ” We will take Ruto’s challenge to be presented with a list of those killed/disappeared and will send a delegation to the Office of the President with the list.”

Khalid emphasized that extrajudicial k******s and enforced disappearances have escalated into major human rights issues, especially since the GenZ protests.

He asserted that the time for silence had ended and called for immediate justice.

“Extrajudicial k******s and enforced disappearances have become a major human rights concern in the country since the onset of theGenZ protests. We can no longer remain silent over the issue. Justice must be done now,” he added.

The move comes in the wake of a tragic discovery in July, when mutilated b***************d in Mukuru kwa Njenga slums in Nairobi.

Approximately 13 bodies were recovered, with some public speculation linking the deaths to the recent GenZ demonstrations.

However, Chief Government Pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor stated that the bodies did not show injuries typically associated with b*****s, either externally or from internal examinations.
