Abbie Chatfield says she has an 'anxious' attachment style in relationships

Abbie Chatfield says she has an ‘anxious’ attachment style and that it’s affected her relationships: ‘I’ve had a few bad experiences’

She previously admitted to only dating men for a maximum of three months to avoid being in a serious relationship.

And Abbie Chatfield has now opened up about why this is, saying that she gets ‘anxiously attached’ to her partners.

The reality TV star, 28, spoke about attachment styles with a relationship expert on her most recent It’s A Lot podcast.

According to attachment theory, there are four different relationship attachment styles; secure, anxious, dismissive avoidant, and fearful avoidant.

‘I’ve had a few awful experiences, all of them made me more anxious because they were dismissive avoidant,’ she explained.

‘It’s almost like when you have left a bit of rotten fruit in the fridge, and you’re like “OMG I know there’s a rotten mango in that crisper” but I’m not going to touch it right now because it’s a bit gross.’

She continued: ‘And then a few days later  you go “F**k that mango is still there and I know it’s worse”.

‘They know you are getting angrier the less you talk to them,’ she continued.

‘And then after weeks they’re like “Oh f**k that mango is disintegrated, it’s CSI Miami in there.’

At the beginning of this year, Abbie revealed that she is only dating men for three months at a time to avoid falling into a relationship.

Speaking to Who magazine, the FBoy Island star said: ‘I’ve said that I have a three-month dating rule. When I meet someone, I’m in it for three months.’

Abbie, who split from her ex Konrad Bień-Stephen last September after a year of being in an open relationship, said she plans to stay single for 2023.

However, she is still open to ‘casual’ dating with multiple men.

‘So, I am dating but just very, very casually – and definitely more than one person at a time, because I’m not… I do not want a relationship,’ she said.

‘It actually gives me anxiety. The thought of it makes me want to, like, run.’
