A tragic accident claimed the life of a 13 year old boy when his motorbike collided with a pickup truck making a sudden U-turn in Chon Buri. The incident occurred yesterday, June 12, at 7.30am on Sukhumvit-Ang Sila Road, in front of the Uam Rak Animal Hospital, Samet sub-district, Mueang district, Chon Buri province.

Samet police, along with paramedics from Chon Buri Hospital and the Tri Khuntam Rescue Foundation, arrived at the scene to find the body of the young Mattayom 2 student, whose name has been withheld.

The boy suffered a broken neck, fractured ribs, arms, and legs, and had tyre tracks on his body. His white Yamaha motorcycle lay nearby, completely wrecked.

Officers also found a black Isuzu D-Max pickup truck with a Bangkok license plate, displaying damage to its right door. Eyewitnesses reported that the D-Max pickup truck was travelling from Sukhumvit towards Ang Sila when it made a sudden U-turn, cutting off the boy’s motorcycle and causing a collision.

“The pickup truck attempted to make a U-turn and cut off the boy, causing his vehicle to collide with the side of the door and fall to the opposite side of the road.”

Tragically, another pickup truck struck the boy after he fell, leading to his immediate demise.

As of now, Samet police have not determined who is at fault. They are investigating the drivers of both pickup trucks and plan to review CCTV footage to take further legal action in the Chon Buri accident.

Thai law prohibits 13 year olds from legally operating motorbikes or obtaining a license, registration, and insurance, reported The Pattaya News.
