Actor and WWE superstar Dave Bautista is joining forces with Steve Lerner, the writer of Stray, to create a new franchise about a Cat Assassin.
While Dave Bautista is perhaps best known for his time putting fellow wrestlers through tables, he’s also carved out a successful Hollywood career, appearing in high-profile movies such as Blade Runner 2049, Dune, and the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy.
This led him to create his own production company, Dogbone Entertainment, in 2022. Now, the company is teaming up with the mind behind Stray to create Cat Assassin, a game about…well, a cat assassin.
Cat Assassin creators already have franchise plans
As revealed by GameRant, Cat Assassin is an upcoming project set in a “neo-noir world full of anthropomorphic cats.” Stray’s Steve Lerner will serve as the writer for the game, while Bautista will be providing his “creative vision” in collaboration with Titan1Studios.
But what exactly is it? Well, it’s said to be a stealth-action title that draws from the likes of Splinter Cell and Assassin’s Creed. It stars protagonist Hugh, as he looks to make his way through a dark city that’s rife with danger.
So, it’s safe to assume we’ll be sneaking around and taking down enemies, but it’s unclear exactly how it will look and play.
Although very little else is known about Cat Assassin, there are already big plans to make it into a multimedia franchise that spans different media. There are already plans for an animated series, a film, a comic, and additional games in the series.
The game is still in very early development, so there’s no timeline just yet of when it will arrive, and we’ll likely have to wait a little while for a trailer. But given the pedigree of those involved, Bautista is clearly confident in the project, as he praised the “truly unique world” being created.
Aside from being a wrestler and actor, Bautista is a known gamer, as he’s been trying to force through a Gears of War movie with him as Marcus Fenix for some time.
