Check your Switch 2 pre-order – a major retailer just canceled some

A major video game retailer in the UK has revealed that it will no longer be able to fulfil “some” Switch 2 pre-orders, much to the disappointment of fans.

On May 29, customers who pre-ordered the Switch 2 through Game were notified that some orders had been canceled. The video game retailer took to X to apologize to those impacted and has stated that it is currently working hard to address the issue.

“We sincerely apologise for the recent cancellation of some Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders. We understand how disappointing this is, especially for those who have been eagerly awaiting their order,” reads the statement.

“We’re currently working hard to reinstate as many affected pre-orders as possible. If your order was impacted, please know that we’re doing everything we can and will be in touch with further updates and next steps. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we work to resolve this. We truly appreciate your support.”

With the Switch 2 June 5 release date mere days away, this will come as a huge disappointment to fans hoping to play the console at launch.

Demand for the portable console has been so high that Nintendo’s President, Shuntaro Furukawa, apologized after a “significant” number of Japanese didn’t get to pre-order the Switch 2, due to such high demand.

In Japan alone, approximately 2.2 million people entered the lottery for a chance to pre-order the console. Despite the shortages, boxes have started to appear in retailers, with a photo taken from US retailer Target going viral earlier this week.

Some lucky fans have also received their Switch 2s early, despite needing a day one patch to physically play games.
