Alex (born June 30, 1988 [age 35]), better known online as Yandere Dev, is an American YouTuber and independent game developer, best known for developing the stealth action game Yandere Simulator. Additionally, YandereDev is a TinyBuild partner.
In recent videos, YandereDev uses anime-style illustrations to represent himself. His avatar is the image of Yandere-chan, whom he used to depict himself in his earlier videos.
YandereDev has black hair, brown eyes, and glasses, as seen in many photos from Anime Expo 2016. YandereDev explained that in the past he didn’t want to have his picture taken because he had “ugly dark circles under his eyes,” but that he eventually “came out of his shell.”
During a visit to Anime Expo in 2016, he allowed fans to take photos with him; since then, several public photos of him have appeared on his blog. According to YandereDev, he was 5 feet 11 inches tall when last measured.
In several videos, especially the most recent ones, YandereDev uses a character to represent himself. In his “Yandere Simulator’s Biggest Problem” video (and future announcements), his eyes are brown instead of black. His avatar is the image of Yandere-chan, whom he used to depict himself in his earlier videos.
He attended college in Santa Monica, California, earning an associate degree in animation, interactive technology, video graphics, and special effects.
He then spent three years as a junior game designer at Kung Fu Factory, developing five console games and five mobile games. He eventually left the company in July 2013 to pursue his dream of becoming an independent game developer.
In 2014, Yandere Dev began developing an action stealth game called Yandere Simulator. The plot follows a teenager named Ayano Aishi as he attempts to gain the attention of another student named Senpai. Players can choose to force their love interest or murder other characters attracted to their predecessors while maintaining their reputation. Yandere Dev initially pitched the idea to the forum site 4chan and received positive feedback. He will be posting regular updates and trivia about the game on his main YouTube channel and blog.
