Residents are being warned to stay indoors after a man was shot after a shooting in Perth’s east.

St John WA and RAC helicopters are providing care to an injured man after he was shot at Wooroloo, about 60 kilometers east of Perth.

There is a heavy police presence near the junction of Needham Road and Murauba Close.

A WA Police spokesman said the Tactical Response Team and other specialist units were “searching for those suspected of being involved in the incident”.

“Residents are advised to stay indoors and lock their doors,” the spokesman said.

“Additional information will be provided as the response to the incident continues.”

Any suspicious activity should be reported immediately to the police on 000.

Approved prisoners can work under the supervision of the local community and participate in reforestation and environmental programmes, training for local businesses and general community projects.

The prison’s large industrial complex produces goods, including prison food, for the prison system and external contracts, offsetting some of the prisoner management costs.

Prisoners can learn shop skills and participate in internships to find employment upon release.

Visitors may be searched when entering prison grounds. From June 27, 2020, strict new penalties will be implemented for the smuggling trade.

This also includes the use of drug-sniffing dogs, which are used to detect prohibited items and substances. Visitors’ cars in the prison parking lot were also searched.

Handheld devices such as metal detectors are used to ensure visitors do not try to bring contraband into the prison.

Supervisors have the right to inspect any items owned by visitors, including clothing. If the search requires removal of clothing, the search will be carried out by a prison officer of the same gender as the visitor, or by a female officer if the visitor is a child.
