Matteo Salvini posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) which immediately sparked controversy. Among the protesters demanding the disembarkation of migrants from the Diciotti ship on 25 August 2018 was a woman resembling Catania judge Iolanda Apostolico, who did not approve of the arrest of some Tunisian migrants held in the Pozzallo CPR. Some have called for the initiation of CSM proceedings into the judge’s conduct.
The League’s press release states that praise also appeared on Facebook profiles for vulgar and seriously offensive posts against Salvini which mentioned Doctor Apostorico. At the moment none of the circumstances have been denied by the interested parties. The deputy prime minister and minister spent the last few hours taking part in a series of technical meetings linked to his role at the ministry, from the Channel Bridge to housing issues, from motorways to construction sites: he noted with “dismay” the emerging concerns.

Anastasio Cala, representative of the League of Catania, immediately launched an attack: “The deputy prime minister and minister Matteo Salvini is right: in the video he posted this morning on social media there are some well-known faces. I’m sure he knows the Catania magistrate Iolanda Apostolico , who took part in a far-left demonstration on a pier in the port of Catania on 25 August 2018. The crowd chanted “Kill” in front of the police “Prisoners” and “animals” and called for migrants to disembark from the Dicchiotti ship I spoke openly with the doctor: can she prove me wrong?”
