A video of a driver running over a boda boda rider before ramming through a perimeter wall has sparked concern among Kenyans.

CCTV footage of the incident showed the white Toyota Prado making a sharp U-turn near the Village Next Door along Kiambu Road just off the Northern Bypass.
Instead of heading towards Fourways Junction, the driver inexplicably makes another sharp turn against on-coming traffic and heads straight for the yard adjacent to the Village’s entrance.

Boda boda riders parked by the perimeter wall are helplessly mowed down as the car crashes onto the premises before attempting to head back to the road.
However, it is stopped by a concrete slab erected to prevent pedestrians and vehicles from falling into the highway’s culvert.
With one of its wheels suspended in the air and thus immobile, passersby mill around the Prado and pull out the driver, who, according to witnesses, appeared intoxicated.
According to netizens, the crash was a wake-up call on road safety, a warning against drunk driving.

In November 2022, a man driving a Toyota Prado rammed into a matatu and a tuk-tuk, killing five people along the Eastern Bypass.
Cosmas Mutembei Kauma was reportedly under the influence of alcohol when he hit the vehicles in the wee hours of that fateful Sunday morning.
As reported by Tuko.co.ke then, two passengers aboard the matatu were seriously injured while five passengers aboard the said tuk-tuk succumbed to injuries.
He was later arraigned in a Kiambu court, where he was accused of causing death by dangerous driving.
