The distraught mother of former One Direction star Liam Payne has broken her silence after her son was rushed to hospital in Italy.
Payne, 30, began suffering “agonising” kidney pain whilst holidaying on Lake Como with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy.
Speaking outside her home in Wolverhampton, UK, mum Karen told reporters the family was “worried sick” about Liam.

“We are all worried sick about it but we just have to get on,” the 62-year-old said, as reported by The Daily Mail.
“It’s horrible – him being all the way over there.
“He’s in Milan and it sounds like he’ll be there for a week.
“I feel helpless.”
She said all she could do was “hope for the best.”
“There is nothing we can do. We feel helpless,” she repeated.
“It’s such a horrible situation and we just hope he’s in the best place possible.”
It’s understood the former One Direction star was celebrating the first anniversary of his relationship with Cassidy at a private property when an ambulance had to be called for.
A source told The Sun that Payne was “gutted” that the trip had been “ruined”.
“Naturally he is gutted that his and Kate’s trip to Lake Como has been ruined but at least she was there to help him when he fell ill,” the source said.
“Doctors have warned him not to expect to be signed off to go home for at least another six days.
“They want to do every test possible to understand the issue fully but they now suspect that there has been an underlying issue for a while that has been getting worse.”
The singer recently had to postpone a South American solo tour after suffering from a serious kidney infection.
“It’s with a heavy heart I have to tell you that we have no other choice but to postpone my upcoming tour of South America,” he said in the Instagram announcement.
“Over the past week I’ve been in hospital with a serious kidney infection, it’s something I wouldn’t wish on anyone, and doctor’s orders are that I now need to rest and recover.
“I was beyond excited to come play for you guys.”
Payne also had to postpone some shows early in 2022 after a bad bout of COVID-19.
Taking to Instagram, he wrote that he would “not be ready in time to give you the show you all deserve”.
