Netflix’s Thai Sensation “HUNGER” Takes Home Best Feature Film at 2023 Asian Academy Creative Awards

In a triumphant journey from global streaming success to critical acclaim, Netflix’s Thai film “HUNGER” secured the coveted Best Feature Film award at the 2023 Asian Academy Creative Awards (AACA) held in Singapore.

Directed by Sitisiri Monkolsiri and featuring a stellar cast including Nopachai ‘Peter’ Jayanama, Chutimon ‘Aokbab’ Chuengcharoensukying, and Gunn Svasti, “HUNGER” not only dominated the Netflix Global Top 10 Films list but also emerged victorious in the competitive landscape of ASEAN cinema.

The film’s accolades extend beyond its latest achievement, as “HUNGER” previously clinched three awards in the national round of the AACA. These included Best Feature Film, Best Original Screenplay by Kongdej Jaturanrasmee, and Best Actor in a Leading Role, bestowed upon Nopachai ‘Peter’ Jayanama for his portrayal of Chef Paul.

“HUNGER” made a significant impact on the international stage by claiming the #1 spot on the Netflix Global Top 10 Films list and topping charts in 51 countries. The film’s universal appeal reached audiences in 91 countries, accumulating an impressive 92 million viewing hours from January to June 2023. Its cultural influence extended beyond the screen, sparking the “Crybaby Noodles” trend that captured the fascination of viewers worldwide.

Expressing gratitude for the film’s recognition, Director Sitisiri Monkolsiri shared, “It’s a pleasure to see ‘HUNGER’ being recognized on the international stage. This award is an encouragement for my team and me who worked extremely hard on this project. We are grateful to the ASEAN viewers for their interest in and support for ‘HUNGER,’ a film from Thailand.”
