Man hospitalised after chainsaw accident in Kenthurst

The man has been taken to hospital

A man has been hospitalised following a serious accident with a chainsaw at a property in NSW.

The man, aged in his late 70s, suffered “heavy lacerations” to his arms at his property in Kenthurst in Sydney’s outer northwest.

A passerby, who was an off-duty nurse, provided first aid to the patient and applied a tourniquet before the Mounties Care CareFlight Helicopter landed on a cricket oval nearby.

“CareFlight’s critical care team and NSW Ambulance paramedics worked together to treat the patient,” a CareFlight spokesperson said.

“The CareFlight specialist doctor would like to thank this member of the public for this first aid.”

The man was then taken by ambulance to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
