A man is fighting for life after being stabbed in the neck at Tweed Heads.
The 55-year-old was found near the M1 with a stab wound to his neck on Tuesday morning and was treated at the scene by paramedics.
Emergency services were called to Kirkwood Rd about 7.25am and transported the victim to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
“A 69-year-old woman was arrested at the scene before being taken to Tweed Heads Police Station, where she is assisting police with their inquiries,” police said.
A crime scene has been established.
Kirkwood Rd between the M1 and Falcon Wy will remain closed as police examine the scene.
Motorists are being redirected to the next exit at Minjungbal Dve.
