The Trinamool Congress on Sunday issued its first official statement on the “cash enquiry” allegations against party MP Mahua Moitra and said appropriate action would be taken after an inquiry in a parliamentary forum.
Marwa Moitra allegedly accepted expensive gifts or money to raise issues regarding Gautam Adani in Parliament. Jai Anant Dehadrai, a former friend of the TMC president, filed a separate complaint with the CBI against Moitra.
In response, Mahua Moitra filed a defamation suit in the Delhi High Court. Dubey’s complaint was forwarded to the parliamentary ethics committee by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
The Lok Sabha ethics panel has asked BJP MPs Nishikant Dubey and Dehadrai to deregister before the committee on October 26.
Ethics committee chairman Vinod Sonkar assured that the committee will come to a conclusion after examining everything related to the cash inquiry scandal. He said that Nishikant Dubey, the first BJP MP to level allegations against a TMC MP, was asked to produce evidence.
While Moitra had clarified her stance on the allegations against her on the advice of her party, Congressman Derek O’Brien told Press Trust of India (PTI) in an interview. The party leadership will await the report of the parliamentary panel before issuing an “appropriate report”. Decide”.
“The party leadership has advised the affected member to clarify his position on the allegations against him. She has done so,” O’Brien said.

Earlier, the TMC apparently distanced itself from the controversy surrounding the Lok Sabha MP’s allegations.
Dube alleged that Darshan Hiranandani, the son of Indian billionaire Niranjan Hiranandani, paid Moitra bribes in exchange for her raising specific issues in Parliament.
He wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla demanding the “immediate suspension” of the TMC MP from the House, alleging that “she and businessman Darshan Hiranandani exchanged bribes to raise issues in parliament in exchange” for cash and gifts. “
The businessman acknowledged the allegations that he used his status as a TMC MP to ask questions to the Adani group himself. Hiranandani later claimed that the TMC MP also asked him for help and gifts.
