TikTok star Mahek Bukhari and his mother have been sentenced to life in prison for double murder after a sex tape threat.

Buhari wept in the dock after being found guilty of murdering her mother’s lover and her boyfriend during a high-speed chase last month.

Her mother, Ansreen Bukhari, 46, was also found guilty of murder following a trial at Leicester Crown Court.

Saqib Hussain and Mohammed Hashim Ijazuddin, both 21, had their Skoda ‘almost cracked’ after pulling off the A46 dual carriageway near Leicester Two halves” and caught fire, and died when it crashed into a tree in the early hours of February 11, 2022.

Mr Hussain has threatened to expose his affair with Ainslin Buhari.

Buhari, 24, and her mother, from Stoke-on-Trent, denied two counts of murder but were found guilty by a jury after more than 28 hours of deliberation.

On Friday, Mahek Bukhari was sentenced to at least 31 years and eight months to life in prison, while Ansreen Bukhari was also sentenced to at least 26 years and nine months to life in prison.

Rekan Karwan, 29, and Raees Jamal, 23, who helped carry out the murders, were also sentenced to life in prison for the two counts of murder, with a minimum of 26 years, 10 months and 31 years respectively .

Three others were also found guilty of manslaughter rather than murder.

Natasha Akhtar, 23, was sentenced to 11 years and eight months in prison for two offences, Ameer Jamal, 28, and Sanaf Ghu, 23. Sanaf Gulamustafa was sentenced to 14 years and 8 months and 14 years and 9 months respectively for manslaughter.

During the sentencing hearing, Judge Timothy Spencer KC said TikTok and Instagram were “at the center” of the case when Buhari dropped out of college to pursue his career as an influencer. He argues that if she doesn’t, she looks forward to the rest of her life.

The judge added that Anslin made the “catastrophic” decision to hand the response to the sex tape threats against her to her daughter.
