Mabel, the British pop phenomenon, returns victorious with her latest single, “Look At My Body Pt. II” featuring Shygirl, released today.
The accompanying music video, directed by David Wilson, debuted worldwide on MTV Live, MTVU, MTV Biggest Pop, MTV’s global network of channels, and the iconic Paramount Times Square billboards.
“Look At My Body Pt. II” is an uncompromising hymn honoring female empowerment and reclaiming one’s sexuality, featuring London’s own queen of sexual reclamation, Shygirl.
In the stunning music video, Mabel and Shygirl reimagine cultural moments across history, including the biblical account of Eve and the Forbidden Fruit, to challenge the patriarchal gaze.
The music, produced by MXM and Wolf Cousins, marks Mabel’s boldest new chapter yet, showcasing her most honest and empowered self.
“This record is about questioning the male gaze and embracing the power of the divine feminine,” Mabel reflects on the single’s motivation and accompanying video. “I’ve faced judgment based on my appearance, but now I’m embracing my body without allowing it to define me. I want anyone who has ever underestimated me to know that I’m comfortable in my skin.”
Mabel’s long-awaited collaboration with Shygirl turned out to be a perfect fit. Shygirl shares her enthusiasm for the project by expressing, “Had such a cute time working with Mabel on this one – an easy and natural fit, just love hanging out with her. A song for those who love watching.”
Look At My Body Pt. II” follows Mabel’s previous release, “Vitamins,” a sensual R&B single produced by Tommy Brown (renowned for his work with Ariana Grande and Victoria Monet), and foreshadows an exciting new phase for the gifted pop singer.
