Like Delhi, the residents of Noida and Greater Noida have been facing a severe water crisis. A video of residents of Panchsheel Hynish, a high-rise in Greater Noida, waiting in long queues to collect water from a private water tanker is viral on social media.
The video shows several men and women standing in queues with their buckets. Sharing the video on X, user Sachin Gupta wrote, “This video is not from Latur in Madhya Pradesh, but from the country’s most emerging city, Greater Noida (UP). The motor of the pump house of Greno Authority is not working. 1400 families of the Panchsheel Hynish Society are carrying water in buckets up to several floors.”

Shared on June 22, the video got many reactions from social media users. A user commented, “Today the poor guys are carrying water instead of exercising in the club. This is what is called history completing its circuit.” Another user wrote, “It was one of the main reason I avoided living in these so-called metro cities. Earning a little but living peacefully in my small town.”
“Water should be metered and people conserve it, water likely to become scarce before vanishing,” a third user said.
Last month, water shortage hit many sectors in Noida. According to reports, approximately 5,000 residents of the Eldeco Aamantran Society had to fill water from private water tankers.
Meanwhile, Delhi Water Minister Atishi is continuing her indefinite fast into its second day, protesting against Haryana’s state government. In a video message from her ‘Jal Satyagrah’ venue at Bhogal in south Delhi, Atishi stated, “I will not eat anything till Haryana releases more water for the people in the city, 28 lakh of whom are suffering from water shortage.”
