Kagney Linn Karter, an adult entertainment performer, was discovered dead in her Ohio apartment last Thursday, apparently from suicide at the age of 36.
According to TMZ, Karter died in Parma, Ohio, and her body was received by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office on the same day. Authorities confirmed her death as suicide, and further TMZ updates indicated that Karter died of an intraoral shotgun wound.
Karter, who began her adult film career in the mid-2000s, relocated from Los Angeles to Ohio in 2019. Notably, she created a pole fitness studio, demonstrating a distinct aspect of her life beyond the adult entertainment industry.
Friends of Karter started a GoFundMe campaign with an initial goal of $8,000 to fund burial costs. The campaign soon exceeded its goal, generating more than $15,000, and the surplus cash will be donated to a local animal rescue charity.
Karter’s friends noted her mental health concerns in a moving letter on her GoFundMe website, highlighting her fortitude in the face of personal difficulties. Despite her internal struggles, Karter remained active in her community, committed to personal growth and learning.
“Unfortunately, despite all of her many impressive accomplishments and talents, Kagney struggled with mental health issues as the years passed by. Even in her darkest days, however, she still showed up to the studio, always ready to learn, contribute, better herself in whatever small way she could manage,” her friends wrote. “As alone as she undoubtedly felt within the confines of her own head, she continued to make an effort to show up for her friends and the community who cared about her.”
