J Hus debuts #1 on UK Albums Chart with “Beautiful and Brutal Yard”

Following a three-year hiatus, J Hus’ third studio album, Beautiful and Brutal Yard, storms in and takes the top spot on the UK’s Official Albums Chart.

Burna Boy, Popcaan, Jorja Smith, CB, Naira Marley, Villz, and Boss Belly are among the many collaborators on Beautiful And Brutal Yard. Hus also shared the TG Omori-directed video for his song “Militerian” featuring Naira Marley.

For those who missed him performing at Burna Boy’s recent show, J Hus recently announced his tour, which will begin on October 28th at Dublin’s 3Arena and conclude with two dates at London’s The O2 on November 5th and 6th.

Hus’ first single from the album, “It’s Crazy,” reached the Top 15 on the Official UK Singles Charts. If that wasn’t enough, he followed it up with the explosive “Who Told You” Ft. Drake, which earned him the most first week streams of 18 million worldwide, as well as a #2 spot on the Official UK Singles Charts. Hus is only getting started, with an album that has received widespread praise from the media and a number one single.

The title is a reference to the two sides of Hus and his heart, and is named after the patois influenced slang term for home. It follows J Hus’ sophomore album, Big Conspiracy, which was one of the most critically acclaimed albums of 2020 and earned him a BRIT Award for Best British Male.

His 2017 debut studio album Common Sense established him as a rap champion and innovator, and in between the two albums, he nabbed multiple features from some of the music industry’s biggest artists, including Ed Sheeran, Stormzy, Skepta, and Dave.

For Hus, all roads lead back to music. Look closely at the album title Beautiful and Brutal Yard to find the acronym: baby. Hus’ baby is music, whether it’s brutal, beautiful, or somewhere in between. This is never more clear and present than on his third studio album. The stage is set. The man goes by several monikers: Uju Militer, The Farda, Ezmalay, and The Ugliest (so named after his clothing brand of the same name). But there is only one J Hus.
