“Ayaw ko i-justify na bata kasi ako noon, pero nagkamali talaga ako.” I was careless. I didn’t think about it being Tama Ginakawa Ko or Hindi. “I’m very remorseful,” Foschi Padrego said. Fossky Padrego looked down, his fingertips touching lightly, like a humiliated child praying, begging for forgiveness.

Padrego knows he made bad decisions with some of his friends as a teenager, so he doesn’t expect his words to make him a new person any time soon. But he said he hopes his desire to right his past mistakes – which the aspiring basketball star thought was “cool” at the time – will help him take concrete steps and mold him into a person he can respect.

In late July, Padrego announced his decision to leave Ateneo, where he played for the youth and senior teams and led them to their fourth title in the Tab Baldwin era in his first season as a starter. champion. “Gusto ko Muna ayusin sarili ko bago ako makapag-commit kung saan ako mag co-submit,” he explained. “That’s important to me – that I don’t make any mistakes and try to rebuild from there.”
