Beloved Home and Away star Lynne McGranger shares story behind shock injury: ‘That’s a mess’

Lynne McGranger has left Instagram followers concerned after sharing a bloodied photo of her face following an accident.

The Home and Away veteran, 70, “face planted” on the road while taking her daughter’s dog for a walk.

On Tuesday, Lynne shared with her 194,000 followers two photos – one from before the incident, posing with her daughter’s mother-in-law and a second image from after the incident.

“One minute walking your daughter and son-in-law’s dog with your MOG (mother of the groom) @annette_dickson Nek minit (sic) you’ve face planted the road ,” she captioned the post.

Addressing her caption she later added, “I must’ve been shaken up. I made punctuation mistakes ”.

The close-up of the injuries showed the actress with a bloodied lip and bruising on her chin, right cheek and nose.

Friends and followers shared their best wishes for a speedy recovery.

“Oh gosh Lynnie!!!! Sending love – I was hoping that was on-set makeup xx,” former Home and Away actress Sarah Roberts said.

“Aww Lynny hope you’re all good!” Johnny Ruffo’s partner Tahnee Sims wrote.

“Damn, that looks pretty badass! Hope you’re all good though Lynne ,” Home and Away’s Ethan Browne said.

“Ouch, now how to write that into the script,” a follower said.

“Oh Lynne. I hope you are ok. That’s a mess. On the plus side, it could make a great story for Irene. Hope you heal quickly, love you lots xxx,” another agreed.

“Lucky that wasn’t before the wedding!! ,” a user said.

Lynne’s only daughter Clancy McWaters married her long-time love Luke Dickson in August 2023.

In an interview with 7Life, Lynne previously shared details about her 31-year-old daughter’s wedding.

“She’s our only child and when we got told (about the engagement) in September 2021, I remember she FaceTimed me and said, ‘So we’ve got a bit of news’,” the actress said.

“I thought she was pregnant, which I wouldn’t have minded,” she added, laughing.

“She saw the look on my face and went, ‘No mum I’m not pregnant but…’ and she lifted up her finger with the engagement ring on it.”

Lynne said it was such a delightful surprise that she “thought they were taking the mickey, I didn’t believe it”.

The Home and Away star’s husband was in on the secret after their future son-in-law had asked him for his permission.

Dickson also got in touch with McWaters’ aunt and uncle, who are jewellers, to help with the ring.

“So (Paul’s brother and sister-in-law) knew and they kept it from me, which was kind of good,” Lynne explained.

“It was a lovely surprise.”

Lynne also pointed out she would have struggled to keep the secret, laughing that it is “so hard” to keep such exciting news quiet.

“Even when she told me she said, ‘Now don’t tell anyone’ and I said, ‘Can I tell my best friend?’

“She said, ‘Yes you can tell Maureen but don’t tell anyone else.’

“And I said, ‘Can I at least tell Ada?’” Lynne added.

“Clancy was like, ‘all right you can tell Ada’.”
