Apple TV+ Unveils First-Look at “Lady in the Lake” Series Starring Natalie Portman

Apple TV+ gave audiences a sneak peek into their upcoming, highly anticipated limited series “Lady in the Lake.” Set to debut globally on July 19, 2024, the series boasts an impressive cast led by Academy Award and Golden Globe Award-winner Natalie Portman and Emmy Award nominee Moses Ingram.

“Lady in the Lake” dives into the gripping tale of the disappearance of a young girl in Baltimore during Thanksgiving 1966. The narrative intertwines the lives of two women, Maddie Schwartz (Portman) and Cleo Sherwood (Ingram), whose paths collide amidst the city’s turmoil. Maddie, a Jewish housewife turned investigative journalist, and Cleo, a mother navigating the complexities of Black Baltimore’s political landscape, find themselves drawn into a dangerous web of secrets and mysteries.

Directed by visionary filmmaker Alma Har’el, the series promises to deliver a riveting noir thriller, exploring themes of reinvention, ambition, and the sacrifices women make in pursuit of their dreams.

Joining Portman and Ingram in the cast are acclaimed actors Y’lan Noel, Brett Gelman, Byron Bowers, Noah Jupe, Josiah Cross, Mikey Madison, and Pruitt Taylor Vince, each adding depth and complexity to the story.

“Lady in the Lake” is a collaboration between FIFTH SEASON, Crazyrose, and Bad Wolf America, with Har’el and Christopher Leggett serving as creators, executive producers, writers, and directors. Portman, alongside producing partner Sophie Mas, also serves as an executive producer, contributing to the series’ creative vision.

The late Jean-Marc Vallée, Nathan Ross, and Julie Gardner also join the production as executive producers, alongside author Lippmann and a team of seasoned industry professionals.
