The shooting occurred in the biology classroom on the fourth floor. The girl hid a shotgun – a “Bekas-3” that belonged to her father in a pipe and took it to the gym. As a result of the shooting, two people, including the author, were killed and five were injured. The condition of one of the injured was classified as serious and the other four as moderate. The rest of the students were urgently evacuated and sent home after the incident.

Alina, 14, who opened fire, had a twin sister, who was also in the classroom at the time of the incident. They arrived at school together, but according to investigators, the shooter’s twin sister may not have known her plans.

Alina Afanaskina (Russian: Алина Афанаскина), an eighth grader at the gymnasium, is suspected of committing the crime. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Afanaskina had been bullied since elementary school and had conflicts with students at the Bryansk school.

According to State Duma deputy Alexander Khinshtein, among the shooter’s personal belongings found at the crime scene were a backpack, a box of cartridges and some notes in which the girl said that “she had to meet a friend.” . The investigation into the shooting was controlled by the Commissioner under the President of the Russian Federation for Children’s Rights, Maria Lvova-Belova.

The attacker’s father was arrested. He faces correctional labor of up to two years or hard labor of up to four years.
