Asmongold explains why Twitch should ban all political streams

Asmongold says that if he had his way, he’d outright ban all political content on Twitch – but believes the Amazon-owned platform wouldn’t follow through.

In 2025, Asmongold emerged as the net’s most-watched North American streamer after transitioning from a traditional gaming creator to actively discussing politics while growing his alternate channel, ‘Zackrawrr.’

This change hasn’t come without controversy, however, as both he and other political commentators, such as Hasan, have found themselves coming under fire for some of the things they say. This has resulted in numerous brands pulling their ads from the platform.

Last year, Twitch created a new Content Classification Label for politics that gave users the option to hide political broadcasts and give brands the option to opt out of running ads on those streams.

Now, Asmongold believes that if the platform hopes to maximize its ad revenue, it should completely ban political content in general.

Asmongold says Twitch should ban political streams, but won’t

Speaking on Twitch, Asmongold remarked that he, Hasan, Tectone, Denims and Central Committee “cause 95% of the PR problems on the entire website.”

“That is insane… If you removed in your school the bottom 5% of troublemakers, what percentage of the problems in your school would have gone away?” he asked. “Most people answered between 70 and 100%. The funny thing is that on Twitch, five people create 90% of the problems.”

The streamer continued, adding that if he were Twitch, he would tell those creators to either cut it out or ban them because their content is making the platform ‘look bad.’

However, he also doesn’t think Twitch would ever ban politics and believes it’s difficult for the platform’s staff to differentiate between what is and isn’t political content.

“The reason why they can’t draw the line is because they’re ideologically captured by California politics. The fact is any normal person knows what is and isn’t politics, but for them, they won’t be able to do that.”

Banning an entire type of content wouldn’t actually be a new concept for the purple platform. In 2022, select slot-based gambling sites were banned, but poker, sports betting and other types of gambling were still allowed.

In 2024, Twitch also took action against the controversial ‘censor bar’ meta by banning implied nudity in the form of an update to its attire policy.
