Tanzanian musician Jay Melody stands in solidarity with Kenyans

Tanzanian musician Sharif Said Juma widely known as Jay Melody is standing in solidarity with the people of Kenya amid anti-government protests.

Through his official Instagram page, Jay Melody expressed grave concern about the current situation that has disrupted peace across the country.

“Poleni sana ndugu zangu wa Kenya, binafsi nawaombea kwa Mungu, Amani yenu irudi kamailivyokua mwazo (Amen). (I am sorry my Kenyan brothers and sisters, personally am praying you find peace),”Melody said.

International celebs sending love

International celebrities have been keenly following the events in Kenya surrounding the anti-Finance Bill and anti-government protests.

Here are some of the international celebs who have voiced their opinion using the popular hashtag#rejectfinancebill

Tekno Miles

Nigerian singer shared a video of Kenyans protesting  in the CBD with the caption “What is going on in Kenya this is not Africa What the hell Speak up for Kenya.”

Bobi Wine

Ugandan musician and political activist congratulated the protesters for exercising their democratic rights.

Through his official social media pages Bobi said the voice of the protesters has won which is a prove that people’s power is stronger than the people in power.

“Congratulations to the young people of Kenya, the #GenZ. Your voice has won. You have proved once again that People’s Power is stronger than the People in Power! #RejectFinanceBill2024,” he wrote.

The Dancehall singer mourned those who lost their lives during the protests.

” Prayers and strength to my Kenyans stay strong out there, RIP to those who lost their lives during the protest,” he wrote.

Lupita Nyongo

The Kenyan-US-based actress congratulated the Kenyan youths for standing up against the controversial Bill and condemned police brutality during the protest.

“I salute the Kenyan youth and I am grateful to them for coming together in an extraordinary way to stand up against the problematic Finance Bill 2024 as well as to defend and promote the democratic rights of the Kenyan people,” She wrote.

“I am extremely saddened that lives have been lost in the process and my thoughts are with the victims’ families. May the government of Kenya aim to peacefully unify the nation by hearing and addressing the concerns about bad governance that are rightfully being raised.”
